Road Trip
In March, in the high desert, just before the runoff, when March Madness is at its peak and Kansas has only just tasted disappointment, the dust gets in your nose and makes it hard to breathe.
But that is when you travel further up, and let go of any need to feel grounded.
Pass through the portal before you, in the car that hangs suspended from cable no thicker than your wrist.
There, you can let the dust and dirt fall away to the floor far below.
And in the brightness of full light above it all, you can raise your eyes to a far horizon
and catch the very moment of clarity where chill and warmth combine and moisture falls again from the sky.
